Beta Readers Acquired!
Every blog post has had a longer interval in between posting. Now it has almost been a year since I last posted. Editing Collision has taken a lot longer than I thought it would, but it became an entirely different book from how it started. It will also acquire a new title, but that will be a secret until I get feedback from beta readers at the end of February. (I sent out the book at the end of January!) Which means the book is finally going into the last major edits in March before I have my editor work through it. The goal is for sure to have the book published this year, but I can’t give an exact timeline yet.
Rough Timeline
Since the book is at a later stage in editing, the next round of revisions will be filling in plot holes, explanations, descriptions, combining and improving scenes, and even adding scenes (depending on feedback). After that, it will go to my editor for line edits and so on. During February, I will be using my time gathering materials for publishing and taking it easy. I plan to hit the ground running in March, so I need a good mental break. I won’t touch the manuscript at all, but that doesn’t mean I won’t be writing!
Future Books
In the meantime, I’ve been working on the Until the Stars Fall trilogy I mentioned in the previous blog post. It has gotten a companion book (meant to be read after the last book, but set during the second book) and book that begins after the third book, but is from the perspective of a different character! I still don’t know if there will be scenes from other points of view in the series, but that is a future me problem. The two new books are called When the Seas Collide and How the Feathers Fall. I adore the characters of UTSF, and it won’t be the last you see of them.
Concepts and the Evolution of a Story
Many of the names and concepts you see in past blog posts will change over time as I focus my attention on different books and how the worlds work. It has been almost a year, and when a book hasn’t been published, things can change drastically until it becomes a “hard” copy! Last blog post, I mentioned having a third world. I have since thrown out that idea, and the third world “Tolniera” will simply be incorporated into Somniera and Alteniera. There are enough places in these two worlds alone, besides the fact that the stories are spread across several thousand years of time. Collision is as close to “modern earth time” as the world gets, while UTSF is set at least two thousand years in the past. I will be updating the book list page as I go as usual.
By the time I post again, I hope to be in the final stages of editing and have a sneak peek of the cover for Collision. And the new name. Lots of new things.
